THE CHOICE...OVERVIEW:
Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life - boating, swimming , and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies -- he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door. Spanning the eventful years of young love, marriage and family, THE CHOICE ultimately confronts us with the most heartwrenching question of all: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

BBREVIEWS:
I have read many of Sparks books in the past, my first was A Walk To Remember, My favorites are a mile long. But here lately I feel as if Sparks has not been doing such a good job with his books anymore. For one they seem to be having the same reaccuring theme in them, Take A Walk to Remember, Landons girl/friend/ Wife hated him first then turned into love which later lead to her getting sick. The Last Song, daughter comes to see her father with hate in her heart finds out hes sick and loves him again, The Best of me, the two loved each other growing up and the guy ended up dying to give her son a new heart.
This is not the only theme that seems to be replaying; we also see the same couple theme. I'm sorry to tell you Sparks but no ones relationship is this perfect as you say it is in these books. Sure when you are old like The NoteBook you can rekindle your love by telling the story, and in the Wedding. but in real life its not that easy these days.
So lets talk about these things I found to be a little offensive and what seemed to also make the story seem very uninteresting...for one the way Sparks made it seem like single people should worry less about an education and career and more on settling down was highly offensive to me the most. Take Gabby, he made it seem like her parents didnt want her to go to college so she settled for less and was very needy over getting a ring on her finger (Let me say this followers, I have had a ring on my finger for 4 years and I'm still not married nor rushing to get married). Travis has money, and is brought off to be a sex god, yet hes needy in looking for a woman that can keep up with his daring games.
Sparks also seems to be a little scattered as well with this story, first he starts the book off with Travis in a hospital with flash backs which is like most of his books, We get the feeling that Travis will be telling the story but then it quickly turns into Gabby telling the story. but then it comes back to Travis and hes in the hospital and instead of making the accident more clear he tells that he ran a red light and now Gabby is in a coma and may not wake up. I believe the story should have started off with us knowing this first because the way Sparks played it out made it sound like Travis was meeting Gabby at her job to get their divorce final. it made no sense.
Above all this Sparks always ends his stories well and with this one he ended it with tears. Gabby wakes up no in the book but in the Ep. at the end we also don't get to see into how well she is doing because that is where the story ends with her happy with her happy with her family. I gave it four stars and I still recommend it but I do still find this book to be a little hard to stay interested in as well as the certain things that seem to keep reaccuring in all his books.
