"A mysterious island, An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of peculiar photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine's Home for peculiar children."

BBreviews:

Let start off by saying this book is a mixer between the Twilight Zone, Stephen King, Derek Shan and the Cyrpt keeper. Opening this book to the beginning few chapters of Jacob Portman's grandfather telling him the stories of these strange kids who had gifts different from others then going into his grandfather dying and then seeing these crazy vivd pictures that you just read about it gives you goose bumps and chills!

the story doesnt end here, Jacob goes to the source of his grandfather's tales to find out if they are true or just his grandfather's crazy imagination taking over. However his Grandfather was right and not only does Jacob find the house where these kids stayed....he also finds the kids and a "loop" which is like a fraction in time that keeps replaying itself and keeps these peculiar kids alive. Jacob is thrilled and excited to learn all he can about them until people on his side of the loop begin to die just like his grandfather had...not only people but also animals as well.

Now I not only love books but I am also a photographer (professional) and upon looking at these vintage pictures i figured that ok these where taken wearing these old 1940's style clothing and had a lot of retoughing and editing to make them look that they do in this book....but then I read the authors note about the pictures:

"All the pictures in this book are authentic, vintage found photographs, and with the exception of a FEW that have undergone minimal postprocessing, they are unaltered. They were lent from the personal archives of ten collectors, people who have spent years and countless hours hunting through giant bins of unsorted snapshots at flea markets and antiques malls and yard sales to find a transcendent few, rescuing images of historical significance and arresting beauty from obscurity."

All I can say is wow! I have seen pictures like this all over and never thought to save them form being thrown away. These pictures in this book only helped inhance the feeling of the fictional story into a reality and real like feeling that was so much more believable! I loved it and upon saying this I give this book 5 stars and recommend this series to all my followers because I believe you will like this series, and a warning its not really a scary book unless you make it into a scary book , I also advise all to not go by what the Good Reads reviewers have said about this book being boring because its not, you will barely be able to put this book down....I know I couldn't and the next time I see a vintage photo being sold I might just save it as well. you never know what type of story you could make come to life from it.
