When the King came riding in on his big, black horse, a murmer went up, because his tunic was stitched with the words, DECLARE I DARE NOT. All the ladies were giggling behind their hands, and I asked Mama what it meant. Her face had turned quite pink and she said, ..Never mind.., so I asked Rosanna later. She told me the words meant the King has a new love, but he dares not say her name. But everyone knows her name, of course. It is Anne Boleyn

Normally I shy away from books like this because they cannot seem to get anything right about The Boleyn's but in this case this book was hard to put down. Elinor was a music player for Henry's first wife until she was sent to serve Anne Henry's whore. within these walls we learn about how Anne might have treated the people that worked for her. what they saw and what they didn't "see"

Anne is portrayed the same as a mean person who knows she has the king's ear. With this she is jealous of any girl that sleeps with him or can carry a child more than she can.

I really liked this book even though it was set a little too young in the scale for my taste it was still good.

I recommend this for anyone looking to see a different view of Anne and that time period.most of the historical facts were accurate in this book as well.
