The three Tudor Queens find themselves set against each other. Katherine commands and army against Margaret Tudor and kills her husband James IV of Scotland. But Margaret's boy becomes heir to the Tudor throne when Katherine loses her son. Mary steals the widowed Margaret's proposed husband, but when Mary is widowed it is her secret marriage for love that is her envy of the others.

The Tudor Court, #2

Let's get down to the bad part first of this book....THE LET DOWN. So the description of this book, the talk of this book, and the cover of this book had me (and probably other fans) thinking this book is about ALL THREE SISTERS; Mary, Katherine, and Margaret Tudor. However no it was not like that at all. The whole time I was reading this book I was waiting to see about Katherine or how Mary fell in love with Charles Brandon but no sadly it was based around Margaret Queen of Scotland. The book was not good and this is a first for me to say because I love love love Philippa Gregory and her work, but I hate hate hate this book. it was a boring read. want to know why?

Throughout the book it was like I said about Margaret Tudor, and she was portrayed as a self centered woman and child who cared about nothing but making sure she was ranked first in the dinner march over her other sister and smaller brother, she made sure she had the best dresses, and that her wedding would be bigger and better than Katherine's to her brother Arthur. When her older brother died, she was made none mourned him as well as she did (competition for the dead), When she had son's she rubbed it into Katherine's face that she had boys before her (competition of sex of kids). it was a read of nothing but who wore what better or who was able to carry what kid better. When Katherine kills James IV of Scotland she decides to rub it into her sisters face by not letting her have the body but INSTEAD takes it to Henry VIII as a present (which is a true fact).

Like I said before the let down of the book was the fact that the cover was a false advertisement. the description was also a false advertisement. It made me think this was about all three of them but it was not.

I figured this book would be like The other Boleyn girl or The Boleyn inheritance but it was not it was not all three of them telling the story it was about one SELFISH girl. it was filled with more facts than actual fiction so it was like reading a history book only with the wardrobe and facial hair going on for three or four pages at a time. I don;t believe it was Gregory's best work. I literally wanted to cry because of this book I Made myself finish it because I love this writer, but I do think it would have been better if she had included another sister in telling the story, maybe Mary since she already wrote a book on Katherine earlier in her years.

In conclusion to this sad review. I do say to get this if you are her fan, even though for me it was not as interesting (probably because I could care less for sister verses sister battle to be the best) it was interesting in some places and boring in others.

Philippa Gregory did bring out another brilliant book and I am glad I got it. But I do still stand by and wish it had been described and wrote in a differently matter or would have let us know from the description that this was not about all three sisters but instead about one selfish sister looking for glory.
