Sofia was kidnapped and taken to a place called The Shade to become the meal for Derek Novak a 500 year old vampire who was waking up to once again rule his kingdom. But Sofia and Derek fell in love and in many ways Sofia changed him for the better. Until the day came that Derek's older brother tried to kill Sofia forcing Derek to make the choice to let her and her friend Ben go home and never return to the shade again.

Once Sofia and Ben are back home they try to become as normal as they can again. But with nightmares comes memories and they soon find out that no matter what they cannot forget what happened to them on the shade.

Ben was a slave to a vampire named Claudia- she tortured and rapped the poor guy with having the effects of him wanting to join a clan called the Hunters--people who are born and raised to kill Vampires no matter what-- but when Ben finds them he also gets a shock of his like --not revealing -- Ben is set on getting back to the shade to kill Derek and rescue Sofia but will time change his mind??

Sofia returns to the shade to find Derek has let the darkness take over his mind causing him to feed on people she once held as friends. Sofia is worried that she cannot become the queen he needs and that soon he will choose his vampires over her and get bored of her however Derek thinks that because of his past he will in the end lose Sofia because of the darkness taking over.

I can't give too much detail or information into this book without giving away everything the second book is about. So just to be clear the book has about five major plot twist! Parents coming in parents coming out finding out someone is evil finding out Derek was once a hunter himself. It's a crazy mess but it's also a book that I found hard to put down! 

I am giving this book five stars! And a highly highly needed recommend Forrest takes a side of vampires we have never seen and turns them away from being pretty boys into something dark evil and very dangerous. She has a way of capturing her readers attention and to keep them hooked on finding out what happens next. I am hooked and I hope you will be too.
