It's been 21 days since the 100 landed on earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries...or so they thought.
When Clarke and a few others realize they are not the only ones in earth a few members of their group dies. One is kidnapped and sends Bellamy in a frantic to save his sister. They also take an earthborn prisoner named Sasha who become friends with wells and Clarke. Showing them where food is and another drop ship that had landed a year before them...soon Clarke finds out that her parents might still be alive after all-sent to earth on a top secret mission! But then they all see drop ships coming down to earth and they all know that their world is about to change because not only are the earthborn their friends.... there is a few that are out for blood as well.
So I enjoyed this book just like the first one it was pretty intense and a thriller for me. An added bonus of a small mystery of illness among the group, killings, and one killing that just doesn't add up.
Like I said I liked it but I don't like Glass and her version of the story. She's not on the drop ship she doesn't seem that important and the Romeo Juliet romance with Luke with all the memory flash backs was pretty boring and a waste so I skipped over that characters until the end.
Clarke.....so she finds out her parents are alive! Yay good for you Clarke. Now if you could stop going between Bellamy and wells I'd be more happy with the story line. I couldn't get over how one min she was all over Wells possible about to be his girlfriend again then the grounders set the hospital tent on fire killing her best friend and just because wells held her back knowing there was NO WAY she could save her friend she blamed him and doubted him an ass and ran after Bellamy to help him find his sister. Then when she realizes that bellamys dead girlfriend was one of the kids her parents had experimented on and she had helped kill and her best friend she tells him and he hates her and tries to kill Sasha as a retort but then it gets EVEN better so Bellamy sets out to find his sister and of course here comes Clarke . A few apologies later and they are having sex and now a couple (awwww.....yuck!)
So you can see why that was annoying to me. Don't get me wrong the books have a really good story line to them and the show OMG THE SHOW IS FREAKING AMAZING!
I had a reader ask why are they now printing the books with the show characters when half the characters in the books cover are dead in the story.
I believe this is because the show is popular on Netflix and they decided what better way to sale more copies than to reprint with the tv characters on the front so people who like the show would be suckered into buying the book.
So I give this story a 4.0 rating and a recommendation. This is a good Y.A story I love how even though it has the same feel as the hunger games and the maze runner we don't have one set in stone hero we have a whole group of them which is way better to me. So read the books keep an open mind about them and seriously don't compare it to the show neither follow the other at all.
